01. Name: Alix 02. How did you find out about Hogwarts Elite? It's been floating around in my general sphere for quite some time, ever since I first joined another sorting community many years ago. I have some friends here, perhaps, though it's been so long it's a bit hard to say who is around anymore. 03. What made you start reading the Harry Potter series? That's a trickier question than one might think. The honest answer is probably this: My Mum brought home a copy of the first book from the library because she, as a teacher, had been hearing good things about it. I read it because she handed it to me. I, always eager to go off on adventures (even if only in my mind) took it without question. The continuation of the love affair, and why I ravenously tore through the following six books, came from the familiarity of the Britishisms, the mirrors of my friends in the characters, and the just-darn-good writing and plot.

01. Name: Colemari 02. How did you find out about Hogwarts Elite? I was actually looking up information about thanfiction and this is where I got. 03. What made you start reading the Harry Potter series? When I was ten, the movie came out and my grandmother took me to see it even though I didn’t want to. I thought Harry Potter was a fad and I was a bit snobbish about my ability to read back then, so I didn’t want to read “juvenile” books. Big mistake. Within an hour of watching the movie, I bought the first book and was well on my way to being addicted. I’ve read every book since then, seen every movie, and written and read a tad too much fanfiction. Thank you, Grandma!

01. Name: Palmedfire 02. How did you find out about Hogwarts Elite? I can’t remember exactly. I know I’ve seen/heard of the community around LJ 03. What made you start reading the Harry Potter series? My mother was working at a local bookstore when the fourth book was coming out. Wanting to figure out what the hype was about, she checked the first book out of the library. Then gave it to me to read after she was done saying it was something she thought I’d like. She was right, and I tore through the first three in about a week. I’ve read all the rest as soon as they’ve come out, usually in one sitting.

01. Name: Katy 02. How did you find out about Hogwarts Elite? I’ve seen the little house tags (you know, the “Sorted into” tags) on various friends’ profiles, and finally decided I too wanted to find out what house I’d be placed in. 03. What made you start reading the Harry Potter series? I was 11 and it was right after the 1st book came out, and Harry Potter was exploding in popularity (I distinctly remember watching a blurb about the series on an early morning TV show and thinking “I am way too cool and grown up for this baby stuff!”). I went on a trip with my grandparents and ran out of books to read, so they bought me the only one in the hotel giftshop- Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. I read it in a day or two and was immediately hooked. I haven’t looked back since.

01. Name: Emily 02. How did you find out about Hogwarts Elite? From one of my friends, Jackie, who really adores it. 03. What made you start reading the Harry Potter series? I’ve read the series from the very beginning. I remember picking it up at the library and my parents reading the first bit to me to see if it was okay.

01. Name: Claire 02. How did you find out about Hogwarts Elite? I actually just found it while reading journals today. I'd honestly had no idea that a community like this existed. Color me sheltered! 03. What made you start reading the Harry Potter series? My little sister. She started reading them when I was in my early 20's. I'd been recommending books to her to read for a while, and suddenly she puts the first HP book in my hand and told me I had to read it. I am glad I did.

01. Name: Dimruthien, but people call me Dimmie or Dimi 02. How did you find out about Hogwarts Elite? I saw a link on a Harry Potter icon community and thought it sounded like a great idea for a community. 03. What made you start reading the Harry Potter series? My mum and I were on holiday interstate and the friend we were staying with had two sons. She had bought them books 1-3 and they didn't like them so she gave them to me. I had previously said I'd refuse to read them because they had just started becoming very popular but after reading those three books I was hooked and I've followed the series rabidly ever since. I did learn a valuable lesson: Just because something is popular doesn't mean it isn't worth reading (except the Twilight books which are horrible in every sense of the word).

01. Name: Gabrielle Lauren 02. How did you find out about Hogwarts Elite? I was looking at Potter Puffs and she had a link. 03. What made you start reading the Harry Potter series? Honestly, I’m not quite sure. I was young when the books came out but I saw the movies and liked them. I saw Order of the Phoenix in our school’s library and challenged my friend to see who could read it faster… I won.

01. Name: EruditeWitch aka EruditeFics aka Sam   02. How did you find out about Hogwarts Elite? I've heard whispers for a long while now, and finally decided to search you and check it out!   03. What made you start reading the Harry Potter series?
To be honest, I tried really hard to avoid the phenomenon. I was 17 years old, and some of my closest friends were fawning over the books. To me, they were just kids books, and I thought myself above that sort of literature. I would sit immersed in Austen while they 'oohed and ahhed' over what they were reading.
Finally, one day I couldn’t deny the pull any longer. I had always been a reader, a very serious lover of books. So a series of books that had made so many people so committed to reading, and reading often, was something I just had to delve into purely out of curiosity. The rest is history and I've sealed my fate.

01. Name: Raven 02. How did you find out about Hogwarts Elite? I kept seeing it in links in people's profiles (of the "Sorted Into" variety) and I got curious. Now I'm really curious. I've always wondered what House others might sort me into. 03. What made you start reading the Harry Potter series? It was a book? Seriously, it was a huge and possibly fascinating book. There were rumours that there as going to be more than one. When you read like I do (ie, constantly and quickly) those are attributes too valuable to be passed up. Then it turned out to be really good, so I kept reading.

01. Name: Kacey 02. How did you find out about Hogwarts Elite? Browsing through communities related to Harry Potter. 03. What made you start reading the Harry Potter series? Surprisingly, we started reading them when I was in Middle School in my English Class; we'd read a chapter or so of the 'Philosopher’s Stone' everyday. I liked the series right away, I liked the uniqueness and I was kind of enchanted by the idea of a Wizard School as I was kind of into the magic/witch/wizard thing a the time. I started reading the Chamber of Secrets, and just get kept going. As I grew older and re-read them, I like them even more because I wasn't so hung up on the wizarding/magic aspect as I was by the struggle of life, death, loss, good and evil. Jo's a wonderful story teller, and great at connecting the dots.

01. Name: Amanda. 02. How did you find out about Hogwarts Elite? My friend Jenna told me about it. One night we were chatting and she mentioned she’d filled out an application here and that I should do so as well, so I did! :) 03. What made you start reading the Harry Potter series? I only read them because I wanted to know what all the hype was about, really. I didn’t even think I’d like them. Boy, was I wrong! I read the first book right after PoA came out in theatres, and I was instantly hooked. I knew everything about Harry Potter, absolutely every little miniscule detail (I’ve forgotten a lot of it since, unfortunately. It was pretty impressive, ngl). My mom even made me a Sorting Hat cake for my birthday that year! It was delicious. Oh wow, I think that was my 12th birthday. I was heartbroken because there was no longer even the slightest chance of me getting a letter from Hogwarts.

01. Name: Jan 02. How did you find out about Hogwarts Elite? I'm over at hogwartsishome, and I've seen a couple of members there that are here as well, so I thought it'd be nice to try it out. I've recycled some of my previous answers in my application here as well, though, since it's only been a while since I was sorted there, and I don't think I've changed much. 03. What made you start reading the Harry Potter series? Um, my cousins. I was visiting their house one day and happened upon the first book in her bookshelf. I tried avoiding it first, since it seemed so childish and immature, and some of my friends were telling me not to read it, but I still did, anyway. And I haven't looked back since.
